I don't get it, the Allies are still fighting Germany even though the Nazi regime had been toppled.

All clue indicate that Beck and Goerdeler were looking for a negociated peace with the allies. They will not accept it.
The leaders of the german resistance were not saints or angels. They were hoping to keep a part of the german conquest like Alsace-lorraine or Dantzig, they were not happy with the way nazis treated the jewish but they do not like Jews either.

I'm very aware that the Allies aren't very likely to accept a negotiated surrender, but still I can imagine this might have some consequences for not only Germany but to the West as well.

Not at the moment. As a self published author I don't have the money to translate the book right now.
But, yes I hove to have at least an english version one day.
If you some publisher who are looking fir the kind of book to translate ofr these markets, let me know ;)
